ICE After a Solano Release

The ICE Online Detainee Locator is the official immigration detention locator. USA.gov describes search options by A-number or by name, country of birth, and birth date. LawHelpCA summaries note that the tool can help locate someone currently in ICE custody or recently released from ICE custody for a limited period. For Solano County research, ICE belongs in the workflow only when the booking, court, family, or agency facts point to immigration detention.

A Solano County jail release remains a Solano Sheriff and court record even if an ICE issue follows. The sheriff record can show the county custody event and the time or manner of release where public. The court record can show the criminal disposition, bail, sentence, dismissal, warrant status, or transfer order. ICE records can answer the separate question of whether the person is or recently was in immigration custody.

The local ICE angle should be narrow and factual. Vallejo Sun reported in April 2026 that the Solano Sheriff told the Board of Supervisors the office notified ICE of the release of a jail inmate nine times in 2025 and discussed the public forum requirement when an agency provides ICE access to someone in custody in the prior year. That report does not mean ICE is involved in ordinary releases. It means the ICE branch should be considered when the record indicates a relevant immigration connection.

Confirm ICE Custody Status

Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator at https://locator.ice.gov/ when immigration custody is a realistic branch. Search by A-number if known. If the A-number is not known, USA.gov describes a name-based search using name, country of birth, and birth date. The locator is not designed as a complete county jail release archive, and a no-result should not be used to rewrite the Solano custody record.

1. First confirm the Solano jail event through the sheriff locator, booking logs, VINE, records request, or court record.
2. Look for facts that point to ICE, such as an immigration hold, ICE notification, transfer, or family report of immigration custody.
3. Search the ICE locator by A-number or by name, country of birth, and birth date.
4. Use sheriff and court records for the county release time and manner.
5. Use ICE contacts or immigration records processes for the immigration custody question.

ICE results and Solano jail results answer different questions. A person may be out of Solano custody and still in ICE custody. A person may be absent from the ICE locator and still have a Solano release record. Keep the agency paths separate and confirm each custody period with the agency that held the person.

ICE and Solano Records

The research identifies the ICE locator as the official immigration detention search. It also identifies the Solano Sheriff Records/Warrants Bureau and Solano Superior Court as the local records sources for a county jail release and criminal case. Use both only when both systems are actually involved.

When asking Solano for records, request the public booking and release fields for the local custody event. When using ICE, search for immigration custody status. Do not expect ICE to certify a Solano jail release, and do not expect the Solano Sheriff to provide the full immigration custody file.

About ICE Locator Use

The ICE locator is a federal immigration detention tool, not a Solano County jail or CDCR prison search. It is included in the release map because a person may leave a Solano jail and then become difficult to find if immigration custody follows. In that situation, the Solano release and the ICE custody status are two linked but separate records.

Use the county sources first when the question is whether the person was released from Justice Center, Claybank, Stanton, or Alternative to Custody. Use CDCR sources when the person was held at California State Prison, Solano or California Medical Facility. Use ICE when the known facts support an immigration-detention branch.

County Record Comes First

For a Solano jail release followed by ICE questions, the county release record remains the anchor. It may show time and manner of release or transfer information subject to California public-record limits. The court file may show whether a local case was dismissed, sentenced, continued, or transferred. Once the county record is understood, ICE can be used to determine whether immigration custody explains the person's next location.

VINE can also play a role before the county custody status changes. Solano's VINE instructions route users through California, CA_MULTICO, County, Solano County, name search, Detail, and telephone/PIN registration. VINE is a custody-status and notification tool, not a full immigration record.

Limits of ICE Results

ICE locator coverage and wording can change, and the tool is focused on detention status. Recent release traces may be limited. If the locator does not show the person, check the spelling, birth information, country of birth, and A-number if available, then return to the Solano court and sheriff records for the local custody facts. A no-result is not the same as proof that no ICE contact occurred.

If the Solano record shows only a local release with no immigration notation, do not assume ICE involvement. If it shows a transfer, notification, or immigration hold, preserve that wording and verify it against the ICE locator or the appropriate immigration records channel. The county record explains what Solano did; ICE explains only the immigration custody branch.

When timing matters, compare the county release date, any court event, and the ICE search result as separate data points. A person can leave sheriff custody on one date and appear in another system later. The cleaner record is a timeline that names each agency and avoids treating one locator as a complete history.
